Korean Skincare Haul ( October 2017 )

October 8, 2017

I  strongly believe in the saying “Prevention is better than cure”.  Why wait for your wrinkles to slowly develop when you can avoid it in the first place?

My obsession with skincare started when I was in college. I briefly remembered buying random skincare products at the drugstore without knowing the ingredients or benefits it does for my skin.  The idea of skincare to me before was just a simple face wash, day cream & night cream. That’s how simple I thought it should be. While I felt like that 3 Step skincare was enough for me, It didn’t occur to me that I still need to address certain skin issues, that I need to add that “EXTRA” mojo if I wanted to have a good skin for the long run. That’s where I started doing my research, & Tada! I found myself fascinated with the 10 Step Korean Skincare, what ingredients or vitamins to use and what not to use for certain skin types. I mean haven’t you seen their skin? How they age so gracefully? While it’s a very long process, it is definitely worth it if you stick to the routine religiously.

So here are some products that I have ordered recently.

First off,

Beauty Water by Son&Park

I noticed people has been raving about this product which made me curios to try it out. The Brand claims that it’s an all-in-one product. It’s a toner, essence that exfoliates & moisturizes your skin after your natural pH gets stripped off from some facial cleansers.  It uses natural plant ingredients such as papaya extract, green tea, rose water flower, etc.

It’s either you use a cotton and wipe it off gently on your face to remove makeup residue after face wash or pour the product on your hands and gently pat on your face.

Here is the full ingredients list from Sephora website:

Water, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Butylene Glycol, Propanediol, PEG-7 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Pentylene Glycol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Xylitol, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Cedrus Atlantica Bark Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Water, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Oil, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit/Seed Oil, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Rose Flower Oil, Ferula Galbaniflua (Galbanum) Resin Oil, Thuja Occidentalis Leaf Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf (Green Tea) Extract , Mentha Piperita(Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Mentha Rotundifolia Leaf Extract, Mentha Spicata Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Origanum Majorana Leaf Extract, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract, Pelargonium Graveolens Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Decyl Glucoside, 1,2-Hexanediol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Sodium Chloride, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Octanediol, Copaifera Officinalis (Balsam Copaiba) Resin, Protease, Alcohol Denat., Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol.

Next up,

Bitter Green Dust Guard Facial Mist by SkinFood

What got me interested in adding it up into my cart was “DUST GUARD”.  If you live in Dubai, you will understand. LOL! It’s summer here most of the time and sand storms occur almost 70% of the time. That being said, this is an essential product to protect your make up & skin from dust. I have used Innisfree & Slay facial mist’s before & I recommend that you spray every now and then to keep that glow during a grueling 12 hours shift at work.  I wanted to check this out if it will have any WOW effect on my makeup routine. Aside from the fact that their ingredients are Green based, the bottle it self has a generous amount of product compared to my previous mists.

The product claims to set make up, moisturize your skin through out the day & mainly repels dust particles.

The ingredients includes “Bitter Green-5 complex” which are 5 food extracts such as Wheat grass, Kale, Celery, Cabbage & Broccoli.

After makeup, spray into your face for finishing touches. Re apply when your skin is feeling dry.

Next thing I got,

Beauty Shot Face Blur Primer by Etude House

This Item is actually a repurchase, A cult favorite, and my HG primer during the Day time. It primes, hides your pores, brighten’s your skin, has SPF 33 PA++ & has a small scent of baby powder. It gives you that Photoshop smooth skin effect hence the name “Face Blur”. The only possible downside to it, is that it slightly has a white cast after applying it which is probably the “SPF”. It doesn’t bother me though because it will be covered with my foundation/ BB cushion. It’s a nice base for your make up. It also has a pump type applicator which I find it hygienic.

What I love about it is the smoothness during application. I have noticed it covered my pores well (in comparison with Innisfree’s No Sebum Primer) & gave me that instant natural luminous glow. It gave me a look of an even skin tone.  And let’s face it, a primer with an SPF & smells amazing??! And btw, the SPF was only 15++ before. The new & upgraded version is SPF 30 PA ++. Win!

Ingredients ( From Etude House Official Website)

Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Zinc Oxide (Ci 77947), Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone, Pentylene Glycol, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Glycerin, Sorbitan Isostearate, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Magnesium Sulfate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Tribehenin, Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil Isostearate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Silica, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Disodium Edta, Fragrance(Parfum), Phenoxyethanol, Mica (Ci 77019), Iron Oxides (Ci 77492), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491)

Missha Magic Cushion Moisture SPF 50+/PA +++

BB cushion foundations are one of the New trends now.  Almost all Korean brands sell them & it has been adapted recently by western beauty companies. I have tried Cushion foundations from Hera & Etude house and what I can recommend that it’s better to use it during fall or winter as most of them give sheer to medium coverage. If you’re using it during summer, and if you’re sweaty like me, it’s a nightmare. When applied, the product on your face feels lightweight. Packaging is also convenient compared to foundations. The only downside about them is that it’s unhygienic compared to Foundations or BB cream since you’re using only one sponge applicator( which you can always wash or change BTW) and dabbing it directly to the product.

I got the shade #23 since this was their darkest shade. It claims that the ingredients are flower based which provides hydration & moisture to the skin,  brightens dull skin, good coverage, gives a radiant complexion, wrinkle repairing properties, UV blocking, & brightening.  Their target market is people with dry or Sensitive skin.
